History
A lot of people asked me for a JDM car database, but I was facing trouble because most websites from Japan are in Japanese language while they needed English specifications. In March 2019 a customer told me about one Japanese website in English and after this I found 3 more similar websites.
In April 2019 I though that goo-net-exchange.com is the best website to source data from, I provided updates based on it every few months until 2024. Although it have a field “fuel type” it is not indicated for any car. Fuel type is an important information for most of you, and one of you informed me in early 2024 that jpcenter.ru does provide fuel type.
In October 2024 I investigated further and found 5 websites with similar data but different number of car models in each one, making me questioning who copied who. jpcenter.ru beside having most specifications (about 100 columns) it also have 15% more models and 40% more versions than goo-net-exchange.com (even if historical coverage is the same: 1986-present) so I spent a week to recreate Japan Car Database based on jpcenter.ru in October 2024.
I provided update for jpcenter.ru in January 2025, but afterwards jpcenter.ru have not added any new cars (as November 2025), so I am again update for goo-net-exchange.com database. The downloads include both databases in one Excel file.

I noticed the discrepancy between the number of models and versions on different sites—what kind of criteria do you use to decide which source to prioritize? I’m also curious about how you ensure the data stays consistent, given that these sources may update their information at different times.
I have the same question as you.

It’s quite useful for anyone researching JDM cars or comparing different versions. A cleaner layout or search filter could make it even easier to navigate, but overall this is a very valuable resource.
